LAND
Company has acquired 550 acres of land for the Plant while additional 241 acres land has been acquired at the same location for implementation of another unit of 660 MW (Phase-II) in future. The total land of 791 acres, comprises of 477 acres of private land, 85 acres of tribal land, 219 acres of government land and 10 acres of forest land. In addition to above, land admeasuring around 24 acres for construction of railway line from Binaiki railway station to the Project site has also been acquired. Entire Project land has been acquired and is under the possession of JPL.
COAL
Long term coal linkages for the Plant are sanctioned by South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) (subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL)). Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA) for an annual contracted quantity (ACQ) of 2.73 MMTPA has been executed with:
(a) MCL - 0.578 MMTPA signed on March 08, 2013 & further 0.064 MMTPA on November 2, 2020, and, (b) SECL - 1.872 MMTPA signed on August 23, 2013 & further 0.199 MMTPA on October 8, 2020.
Remaining requirement of the coal is to be met from market/ e-auction coal to be procured by M/s JPL.
WATER
The Intake well pump house is located in the Bargi reservoir of Narmada River and serve as a perennial source of water. The pump house and the discharge piping are designed to meet the water requirements for 1260 MW station capacity. Besides, a raw water reservoir has also been constructed in the plant premises to cater to 15 days of full load of 600 MW station capacity. Therefore, there are no bottlenecks with regard to the water availability.

PROJECT TECHNOLOGY
The plant is implemented to conform with relevant standards related to air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and noise pollution. The installation includes low NOX burners, high efficiency ESP, 275m tall Chimney, Dust Extraction and Dust Suppression Systems, Effluent Treatment Plant, etc. to meet the environmental standards. The project is supplied, erected and commissioned through the multiple package route. Main Plant i.e. Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) has been supplied by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). Other packages have also been supplied by various well-known and reputed Suppliers. In the following table, details of Contractors/ Suppliers for major packages have been summarized:
Name of Package | Agency – Technical Make |
Main Plant (BTG) | BHEL |
Coal Handling Plant | FL Smidth |
Ash Handling Plant | McNally Bharat Engg Company |
400 kV Transmission Line | L&T Ltd. |
400 KV Switchyard | Crompton Greaves Limited |
Generator Transformer | BHEL |
Chimney (Construction) | Paharpur Cooling Towers |
POWER EVACUATION
Power is being evacuated through 400 kV D/c transmission lines connected to 765 kV/ 400 kV/ 220 kV New Pooling Station (NPS) of PGCIL at Jabalpur. The above evacuation scheme from Plant Switchyard to PGCIL NPS Jabalpur thus conforms to the “N-1” contingency requirement as per CEA Transmission Planning Manual 2013. Transmission line (of approx. 65 km. length) between Plant and PGCIL NPS has been constructed by M/s JPL.
